Salsa Classica is a partnerdance where the leader leads the follower through a series of spins and turn patterns to the music. Any Style of a Salsa dancers can also break apart during a dance to dance solo, known as “shines”.

In linear salsa, dancers remain in their “slot”, switching places from one side of the slot to the other, similar to West Coast Swing. Salsa Classica has a bit less turns and easier combinations to compare to Salsa L.A. Style and Salsa N.Y. Style therefore it’s much easier to start from.

The two essential elements of this dance are the forward–backward basic step and the cross-body lead. The couple interprets the musical piece at every moment through movements, steps and figures.
